I earned a B.A. degree in Radio-Television-Film with emphasis in television production and performance from Oklahoma State University in 1982. Upon graduation, I went to work at a CBS affiliate in Wichita Falls, TX advancing to the position of production manager.
In 1985 I moved to the Fox affiliate. I worked in a number of capacities including editor and assistant production manager. During my time there, I won two Addy awards from the Wichita Falls Federation for "Best Edited Commercials."
I joined the staff of JCPenney Communications in 1988 as a Television Operations Specialist and advanced to the position of TV Operations Manager.
In December of 1995 I accepted the challenge to increase the utilization and efficiency of the Dallas Public Schools television production services as the Director of Broadcast Services. The position included managing five cable channels, distance learning courses, video conferencing, and video production. One of the accomplishments was starting a Spanish language program for elementary school children. The show was titled Trabajando Juntos Podemos.
In 1998 my wife and I moved to Orlando, FL and went to work for Walt Disney World. I accepted an offer to be an AV Manager at the Swan/Dolphin resorts working with companies to support their meetings. While I was there I successfully worked with upper management to develop and implement a crew chief/managerial training program.
A few years later we moved to Rogers, AR where I accepted a position as the Director of Media Services in the School of Continuing Education & Academic Outreach at the University of Arkansas. One of the accomplishments was the premiere of the Emmy Award winning Silas Hunt: A Documentary. This documentary is about the life of Silas Hunt, the first African American man in modern times to be admitted to a major southern land grant university.
In July of 2012 I transitioned to a Clinical Instructor position in the Human Resource and Workforce Development program in the College of Education & Health Professions at the University of Arkansas. I was appointed the HRWD Undergraduate Program Coordinator in 2014 and promoted to a Clinical Assistant Professor position in 2017.
I earned an MBA degree and completed my doctorate degree in Higher Education Administration from the University of Arkansas.
Presently I continue to teach in the Human Resource and Workforce Development program as a Teaching Assistant Professor while performing the responsibilities of the HRWD Undergraduate Degree Program Coordinator.
