Professional Biography:
Deniece Honeycutt has worked on and off at the University of Arkansas since 2001. Deniece received her bachelor's degree from the College of the Ozarks at Point Lookout, Mo., in elementary education. She received her Master of Science degree in human development and family studies and later her doctoral degree in adult education from the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville. Deniece has been the administrator of a private school, a Head Start director and Educational Service Cooperative literacy specialist. She has also worked for the Division of Child Care and Early Childhood Education Department of Human Services as the associate director.
Deniece serves in numerous professional and public service organizations, including membership in the National Association for the Education of Young Children, the Southern Early Childhood Association, the Arkansas Early Childhood Association, the International Reading Association, and P.E.O. International. She presents at professional conferences and has conducted many training classes for child-care professionals in Arkansas.
Job Duties:
Deniece is currently the associate director of the Early Care and Education Projects and training advisor for Pre-K Early Literacy Learning in Arkansas program (Pre-K ELLA). Pre-K ELLA is a 30-hour training program for early childhood professionals with experiences that promote literacy skills for children age 3 to 5. As assistant to the director, she aids in research, in program evaluation, in the delivery of the training projects statewide, in writing curriculum and in training.
