Professional Biography:
Susan Slaughter received her Bachelor of Science in Family and Consumer Science and a Master of Education in Educational Technology from the University of Arkansas. Prior to working at the university, she taught family and consumer science for 12 years. Susan has worked for the university of Arkansas since 1989 developing, writing and editing various types of early childhood, vocational and technical curriculum. She is a member of the National Association for the Education of Young Children and the Arkansas Early Childhood Association.
Job Duties:
Susan is currently the training advisor for a statewide Pre-K teacher training program. Pre-K Social-Emotional Learning (Pre-K SEL) is a 45 hour course that provides teachers of three- to five-year-olds knowledge and skills to build warm relationships with children, parents and co-workers; create positive and productive classroom climates; prevent challenging behavior; manage disruptive behavior and teach children new skills so they enter kindergarten ready to learn. Susan also advises writers, edits curriculum, and develops publications.
