Admission Requirements for the Master’s Degree (M.S.) in Rehabilitation Counseling:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution of higher education
- Overall undergraduate GPA of 3.0
- Social science or related field preferred
- Completed application to the University of Arkansas Graduate School
- Completed application to Rehabilitation Education and Research Program
- Interview, in person or by phone, with a program faculty member or a designated representative
- Three letters of reference
If not meeting other standards, the applicant may submit a "Portfolio" of academic and professional work for evaluation by the program admissions committee.
Admission of students with graduate hours at other accredited institutions:
A student not qualifying for regular admission based on their undergraduate grade point, may be admitted to the U of A Rehabilitation Counseling program on "Condition," if they have successfully completed a minimum of nine semester hours in a relevant graduate program at the U of A or another regionally accredited institution with a grade of B or better in each course taken.
"Condition" means the student must make a B or better in the first 12 hours taken in the U of A Rehabilitation Counseling curriculum.
Admission Requirements for the Doctoral Degree (Ph.D.) in Rehabilitation Education and Research:
- Master's degree or its equivalent in rehabilitation counseling or a closely related discipline
- Overall graduate GPA of 3.5
AND
- A score of 500 or higher on both the verbal reasoning and quantitative reasoning sections and a score of 5 or higher on analytical writing section of the Graduate Record Exam (GRE).
- Completed application to the University of Arkansas Graduate School
- Completed application to Rehabilitation Education and Research Program
- Interview, in person or by phone, with a program faculty member or a designated representative
- Three letters of reference
